Stay tuned to this website and AERS social media (Facebook, Twitter) for updatesTo Infinity And Beyond: AERS Science and AERS Scientists The Atlantic Estuarine Research Society (AERS) has a rich history in the Chesapeake region tracing back to 1949. Soon after beginning, a partnership with the New England Estuarine Research Society gave rise to the Estuarine Research Federation (later, ‘Coastal and’ was added to the beginning of the name). AERS brings together a diverse group of students, scientists, managers and educators from the mid-Atlantic U.S. to discuss estuarine and coastal environmental issues and policies. The official AERS history written in 1952 refers to a culture of “enthusiasm, informality, and active participation by all members” and that the “membership believes that the strength of the organization lies in its local character, relatively small membership, and frequent meetings”, all of which remain true today. At this spring meeting, AERS’ 147th meeting, we seek to continue this rich tradition by welcoming all AERS members to contribute to our discussion of all aspects of estuarine and coastal environmental issues and policies. Research and current communications in all disciplines are welcome. Additionally, research and communications regarding the diversity of the scientists and science-adjacent careers, especially forward-looking presentations, are also welcome.
