Overview:

Meeting Program and Abstracts

The conference will begin with poster session and reception at NCSU Center for Marine Sciences & Technology (CMAST). The second day we will start with the keynote presentation and panel discussion on the conference theme. This will be followed by two days of platform presentations on estuarine and coastal research being conducted throughout the Mid-Atlantic and South-east region. We will also enjoy a fantastic oyster roast and dinner held at the Duke University Marine Lab on the second night.

Abstract Information

Abstracts submission is closed.

Presentations: 12 minutes MAX with a 3 minute question period (We will provide standard AV equipment)

Posters: Must give contact information of at least one author. Size MAX is 3' X 5'. Posters will be mounted on foam board for display (Foam board and mounting supplies will be provided on site).

Student Travel Awards
To apply for a student travel award (typical award $75-125), students must do the following:
Register and submit an abstract and be giving a poster or oral presentation at the meeting for which support is requested
Be members in good standing (all dues paid)
Submit a copy of their presentation abstract, letter of application identifying their estimated meeting costs and other support (if any), their vita, and a letter of recommendation / support from an advisor by Feb. 15
All materials should be submitted electronically to David Osgood (dosgood "at" alb.edu)

Limited to 15 people!! First register, first serve. Please pre-register by emailling Chris Voss (cmv "at" ecu.edu)
When: Saturday, March 17, 2007 @ 1:00pm (~ 2 hours duration)
Where: boats will leave from NERR dock on Pivers Island
Bring: appropriate clothing, binoculars, cameras (perhaps waterproof bag), sunscreen, etc.

YSI Multiparameter Instrumentation Training Workshop

Speaker: Matt Previte, YSI/SonTek SE Regional Manager. Matt has over 8-years experience in sales and application/technical support with multiparameter water quality instruments.
Information: We hope that you will join us for an informative and valuable training. Our objective is to provide a condensed version of the full 2 day training session given at the YSI manufacturing plant. We will cover proper maintenance and calibration procedures as well as application specific operation fundamentals. At the end of the day, we will be open for a question and answer session to ask about your specific instruments and operation. YSI will have an exhibit during the conference, so you can always ask follow up questions after the meeting as well. The workshop will focus on: Sensor Technology, including Optical DO, Calibration Procedures & Techniques, Instrument Operation, Quality Assurance Procedures, Data Acquisition, Measurement Techniques, and Care & Maintenance. If time permits we can also discuss: YSI handheld instruments and New Technologies from YSI and SonTek.
